Headmaster's Welcome 18th March 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s great to see the fine weather returning, Spring is always a time for hope and growth.

I was very fortunate to be at Twickenham last Saturday to see Ireland beat a valiant England team. Whilst I was delighted, my son Tom, who is an ardent England supporter, was less happy although he was pleased with the spirit shown by England in adversity.

Our Year 11 pupils have had a week of internal assessments and they have coped pretty well with them.

We had our second Open Morning of the term this Wednesday and had a very healthy attendance. Thank you once again for spreading the good news about Bethany so well. As ever, our pupils received well-deserved praise for being excellent ambassadors of Bethany School.

I hope that Year 7 parents have had productive meetings with the Year 7 teachers both last night and tonight and next week is the turn of  Year 11 parents to speak to their children’s teachers.  An email with details on this will be sent to Year 11 parents at 5pm.

I wish Year 13 well as they have a week of internal assessments next week.

The Easter Concert will take place at 7pm in the Function Suite next Wednesday and it promises to be a great event.

Happy belated St Patrick’s Day to you all. On St Patrick’s Day (March 17th) there are only two types of people in the world: those who are Irish and those who would like to become Irish! and I thought I should leave you with an Irish joke.

An Irishman walks into a local bar in a panic and orders seven Irish whiskies and a pint of Guinness. When the barman arrives back with the pint, all the shots of whiskey have been drunk. ‘You drank those very quickly,’ said the barman. ‘Well,’ said the Irishman, ‘if you had what I’ve got, you’d drink them quickly too’. The barman asks, ‘What have you got?’. The Irishman replied, ‘A fiver’.

Yours sincerely,

Francie Healy
