Headmaster's Welcome 27th May 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to congratulate the Year 11s for handling the stresses associated with the Year 11 examinations so well. It is a case of so far, so good.
As I had predicted last week, the Year 10 monologues on Monday night were superbly well delivered. I really do marvel at the theatrical abilities of our drama pupils.
I was delighted with the LGBTQ+ bake sale that was held on Wednesday lunchtime. Business was brisk and I am grateful to Sister Rhiannon, Mrs Rendell and Mrs Sturrock for organising it. Over £140 was raised.
We had a most enjoyable tea party yesterday afternoon. We toasted the Queen, respected and sang the National Anthem and a lovely relaxed atmosphere prevailed. The boarders also enjoyed their Dominos Pizzas last night provided by the School. It would appear that nothing says British tradition louder than a Dominos Pizza - if that had happened in Ireland, people would have said it was a bit Irish!
I have been assured that the following is true. The Queen met a group of tourists while at Balmoral, her country home. A member of the group didn’t recognise her and asked her if she had ever met the Queen and her majesty pointed to the protection officer beside her and replied, “no but this policeman has”. There is always a place for humour.
I hope you all enjoy the half term holiday, especially the four-day celebrations commemorating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We are sharing in a unique moment in time; and we should make sure we embrace the wonderful memories being created.
Yours sincerely
Francie Healy
